  1. If your favorite wallet has not yet implemented SegWit, kindly ask them to do so immediately. In the meantime start using a wallet that has already implemented SegWit.

If your favorite exchange has not yet implemented SegWit, try to avoid making any further purchases of bitcoin at that exchange and politely inform them that if they do not enable SegWit within 30-days they will lose your business. Sign-up for an account at a SegWit deployed exchange now and initiate the verification process so you'll be ready to bail

There are 2 different Segwit address formats.
  • p2sh - starting with a "3..."
  • bech32 - starting "bc1..."
Not many wallets/exchanges support bech32 yet and will claim the address is invalid if you try to send to it. bech32 ("native Segwit") is a mildly better solution compared to p2sh.

SUMMARY
Segregrated Witness (SegWit) was activated on the Bitcoin network August 24, 2017 as a soft fork that is backward compatible with previous bitcoin transactions (Understanding Segregated Witness). Mass SegWit use alone could empty the mempool, result in blocks that are not completely full, and make it possible to include transactions with $0 fee once again.
On Jan 11 2018 when BTC sends went offline at Coinbase the mempool began to rapidly empty. Later in the day when service was restored there was a sharp spike up in the mempool. Subsequently, that afternoon Brian Armstrong finally had to break his silence on the topic and admitted Coinbase is working on SegWit but has still not deployed it. It appears that this is an important data point that indicates if just a few major exchanges would deploy SegWit the high fees bitcoin is experiencing would be eliminated.
SegWit is just one technique available to exchanges and users to reduce pressure on the Bitcoin network. You can make the switch to SegWit on your next transaction, and pressure exchanges to deploy SegWit NOW along with other actions that will reduce their transaction impact on the network. Beyond SegWit & Batching, Lightning Network integration will have even more effect. Lightning is now active and exchanges could setup payment channels between each other so that on-chain transactions need not take place. Which two bitcoin exchanges will be the first to establish a lightning channel between themselves and offer free/instant transfers between them for their customers? This will happen in 2018

Why is SegWit adoption going so slowly? Is it a time-consuming process, is there risk involved, is it laziness, or something else?
SegWit will require some extra work to be done right and securely. Also, most exchanges let the user pay the fee, and up to now users have not been overly concerned about fees so for some exchanges it hasn't been a priority.
Once Segwit is FULLY adopted, what do we see the fees/transaction times going to?

Subsequently, that afternoon Brian Armstrong finally had to break his silence on the topic and admitted Coinbase is working on SegWit but has still not deployed it. What are the two SegWit address formats and why do they exist?
  • It's been a challenge for wallet developers to implement SegWit in a way that users can easily and without too much disruption migrate from legacy to SegWit addresses. The first wallets to enable SegWit addresses – Ledger, Trezor, Core, GreenAddress – use so-called “nested P2SH addresses.” This means they take the existing Pay 2 Script Hash address – starting with a “3” – and put a SegWit address into it. This enables a high grade of compatibility to existing wallets as every wallet is familiar with these addresses, but it is a workaround which results in SegWit transactions needing around 10 percent more space than they otherwise would.
    Electrum 3.0 was the first wallet to use bech32 addresses instead of nested p2sh addresses.

  • The address starting with a "3..." is a P2SH SegWit address that can be sent BTC from any bitcoin address including a legacy address. The address starting with a "bc1..." is a bech32 SegWit address that can only be sent to from newer wallets that support bech32.

"The Flippening" explained, how BCH will take over BTC.

Could you explain to me how the hashing power influence the price of the crypto please?
Here it is:
1) There is a mass migration from BTC to BCH going on.
2) But BTC was saved from massive price crashing, because people couldn't escape fast enough, their sell transactions weren't being mined, so they couldn't confirm.
3) There are currently 180,000 unconfirmed transactions stuck in the Bitcoin system (https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/), many are people rushing to sell BTC to buy BCH.
4) Transactions are averaged around 400bytes (https://charts.bitcoin.com/chart/transaction-size), since Blockstream Core insisted on keeping block size at 1MB, you only confirm about 2500tx per block on BTC. (https://blockchain.info)
5) Bitcoin has a built-in system that automatically adjust the mining difficulty, so regardless of what the total hash rate is, you'll still end up with roughly 10 minutes per new block mined, this is known as the "difficulty adjustment".
6) The difficulty adjustment is not instant, it is only recalculated every 2016 blocks (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Difficulty), under normal circumstances, it readjusts every 2016 x 10 minutes, or every 14 days.
7) If the hash rate increased before the adjustment block, then new blocks will appear faster than normal.
8) If the hash rate decreased before the adjustment block, then new blocks will appear slower than normal.
9) The problem we have here is, when Bitcoin Cash was created a few months ago (cloned from Bitcoin), we knew Bitcoin was going to have a lot more hash rate than Bitcoin Cash, so we couldn't clone the difficulty adjustment algorithm, we had to use our own. Otherwise Bitcoin Cash would need 20*10, or 200 minutes to mine a block (assuming Bitcoin Cash only had 5% of Bitcoin's hash power).
10) Bitcoin Cash was created in an emergency situation, so we didn't have much time to work on the difficulty algorithm, it was a rushed job and it didn't work well, it was good enough to help Bitcoin Cash survive, but not good enough to have a smooth curve, it was always either way too difficult or way too easy, new blocks were created either way too quick or way too slow, and it took too long to readjust again.
11) At this moment Bitcoin Cash is too easy to mine (was 4 times easier than normal, even more when BCH was worth more), about half the miners from BTC went to mine BCH instead, because it's more profitable.
12) Back to the 180,000 unconfirmed BTC transactions stuck in the system, normally, it takes 10 minutes to mine a block and confirm 2500tx, but now it takes 20 minutes per block because half the miners went to mine BCH.
13) 20 minutes per block * (180000tx/2500tx per block) = 24 hours. So it'd take 24 hours mine all the stuck tx and clear the jam, IF, and only IF there are no new transactions constantly coming in.
14) There are always new tx coming in, and old tx are being mined with half the miners, so we ended up with people waiting 72hrs and still couldn't get their BTC tx confirmed.
15) This would not happen if Blockstream Core increased the block size from 1MB to 2MB, but they deliberately stalled for years, so that one day they can force people to use their sidechain service by paying them fees (this is officially admitted by Blockstream).
16) BCH is currently too easy to mine, the new BCH difficulty adjustment algorithm (DAA) will improve the situation, it'll be much smoother at keeping the difficulty at around 10minutes per block regardless of hash rate changes, it'll no longer be too easy or too hard to mine for a sustained period of time.
17) The new algorithm will drive miners back to mine the more profitable BTC, at least until BCH is worth more than BTC to mine, some say the flippening price is about $4000, where BTC drops below $4000 and BCH goes above $4000, at which point, BCH will be more profitable to mine again, even with the new DAA.
18) Once that happens, BTC will likely enter a death spiral, because BTC is still using the 14days difficulty adjustment period.
19) The next difficulty adjustment block for BTC is 1842 blocks from now (https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty).
20) This make it the perfect time to strike BTC, normally 1842 blocks @ 10mins per block, takes 13 days for the next readjustment.
21) But if we can push BCH's price towards $4000, and drive BTC's price down towards $4000 within a few days, then 10 days for the next readjustment can turn into 20 days (if BTC loses 50% miners), 20 can turn into 40 (if BTC loses 75% miners), eventually BTC will enter a death spiral and get stuck for months, during which its price will crash beyond recovery. This is known as the "flippening".
22) Flippening is what the people are currently working on, people are tired of paying $50 fee and waiting 24 hours to confirm a simple transaction on Blockstream Core's Bitcoin, that's just not how Bitcoin was designed to work.
23) We're going in for the kill, it might not happen tomorrow, but it will happen one way or another.

16 Reasons to Buy DGB

We live in a unique time like none other. Digital assets are disrupting the financial sector. The invention of blockchain is just as important as the invention of the internet. There are hundreds of digital assets to choose from in today's market. Some are great investments but most will fail. Let's make the case for Digibyte as a solid investment.   3. We will be at $10 by May of 2019 if and only if we respect the right leg of the triangle. The graph featured is a weekly log chart of Digibyte in USD. The first wave took us to the all time high. The second wave completed its retracement when it touched the right leg of the triangle. The third wave should take us to the left leg of the triangle where it will touch for the 4th time. The 4th touch will take us to at least $0.16.
  4. Great divergence exists between the USD and BTC -0.17% charts on https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/digibyte/. This can be clearly seen when you select log scale. Expect massive gains in value when such divergence exists! Consider what happened to the price from Jan - Feb and Sep - Oct of 2015.
  5. We have recently been listed on Yahoo -0.26% Finance (https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/DGB-USD?p=DGB-USD). Notice that Digibyte is paired with 10 different currencies. I personally think that this is huge since it will attract the attention of mainstream investors.
  6. We have recently been added to Ledger Nano S and Blue. This allows users to store their Digibytes on a hardware wallet. The calculator does not account for nor allow for input of the increase/decrease of difficulty over time, though I may add this feature soon. Example usage: "crypto_bot calc 30th/s 10w .12kwh hc$55 1.5%" (to make it easier to remember, th/s can also be inputted as ths). This calls the bot with a hashrate of 30 th/s, electricity usage of 10w, a cost of $.12 kWh, a hardware cost of $55, and a pool fee of 1.5%.

The first command responds with the number of unconfirmed transactions, and the second explains why transactions might take extra time to confirm.
Update 3 (August 24, 2015, 1:34): The bot now responds in a better way than before when transaction ids or addresses are posted. Before, it only responded when the transaction id or address was used in a link to Blockchain.info. Now the bot will respond whenever a transaction id or address is posted at all; a link to Blockchain.info is no longer necessary.
Update 4 (August 27, 2015, 3:00): The bot can now sign messages in the Bitcoin block chain using OP_RETURN.

It looks like the pace to SegWit adoption is picking up speed, very quickly, & Bitcoin price is rising close to all time highs again, as transactions fees are falling rapidly, & confirmations times are much quicker..
Segregated Witness, or SegWit, is a solution to improve the Bitcoin's scalability and make it cheaper AND faster to process more transactions.
Here are the key things that SegWit enables:

SegWit is the process by which the block size limit on the blockchain is increased by removing signature data from Bitcoin transactions. This frees up space or capacity to add more transactions to the chain.
It solves a blockchain size limitation problem that reduces Bitcoin transaction speed by allowing more transactions to fit in each block. The overall effect would be changing the average block size to about 1.8 MB instead of 1, after everyone upgrades to SegWit.
Bitcoin price is approaching the all time high. Mem Pool is empty & number of unconfirmed transactions are at an all time low, since I started checking at the start of this year. Since I started posting on this forum, I have been told time and again, that "S2X has >90% hash power and will obliterate the S1X chain". I totally disagree. Miners can signal all they want, but in the end, they will mine the chain, that WE give value to.
In my view, the Core development team have done a wonderful job, by adding complicated code, SegWit, which simply works, without any BUGs.
SegWit IS a scaling solution that works. It leads to lower fees, & faster confirmations, as The Segwit blocks which include the witness data can be over 1,000,000 bytes.

Shapeshift IS Now One of the Leading SegWit Adopters! Shapeshift is responsible for 2% to 3% of ALL Bitcoin transactions.
This is why, I support the incumbent Bitcoin BTC, & will continue to do so after the hard fork.
I personally do not believe that Segwit2x developer Jeff Garzik will be able to as good a job as the current Core development team.
A simple error in the code, or a bug, could lead to BIG problems down the line.

Please note, IF you hold Bitcoin (BTC) you should get free coins when Bitcoin Gold Hard Forks on 25th October. Then you will also get SegWit2X coins, when this Hard Fork happens in mid November. Coinbase has said that "Customers with Bitcoin balances stored on Coinbase at the time of the fork, will have access to Bitcoin on both blockchains.
On a side note: All of us who support current version of Bitcoin BTC, have to help find ways of keeping Core developers in control.

I'd like to take the time to reflect on the crazy year that was 2017 for cryptocurrency investors, and weigh in on what we've learned over the past year, while also making a few predictions for the future.
One year feels like a decade in crypto, and so many various forces finally cumulated together in 2017 that we had an explosion of activity that left me feeling both exhausted and exhilarated. We saw LTC go on Coinbase, we saw an ICO rush with new issues like Bancor raising 150mil in 3 hours, we saw the absurdity that is cryptokitties crushing the ETH network, we saw Bitcoin Cash and the shitshow surrounding that, we saw Segwit and the long awaited Bitcoin futures. I will always remember where I was at the moment I watched Bitcoin pass $10,000 on GDAX. I will never forget the sweat as I watched the Gemini Auction for my BTC and then waiting for the payment to settle. And I will never forget the flurry of questions, advice seeking and inquiries from people in December as the media spotlight made cryptocurrencies a mainstream concern. We've come a long way, from the days of being considered oddball technogeeks to now being the vanguard of early adopters.

Some major trends in 2017 and lessons learned

  • The Mainstreaming of Cryptocurrencies: This was the year that the "normies" entered crypto in astounding numbers, especially later in the year and cumulating in December. From Ice Tea companies to my hairdresser, everyone wanted to be involved in crypto. New naive money will continue to pump into the market this year, and its important we welcome them while also keeping their expectations grounded in reality. Encouraging new investors with stories of how they can double their investment in a week is not a sustainable method of keeping them interested in crypto.
  • ICO Craze: For many 2017 was the year that the ICO. People made a ton of money by getting into ICOs early before a coin became hyped by the marketing efforts. Sites like ICOBench sprung up and provided people an easy way to find new ICOs to invest in, and those who got in could get a handsome profit by buying the coins for pennies then selling them for dimes a few months later at an exchange, with many ICOs offering pre-sale discounts for early registrations. I suspect that this trend will actually die out in 2018 as there seem to be way too many coins coming out now and they won't all be able to pump, we're already seeing ICOs recently getting dumped hard the moment they start trading on an exchange.
  • The rapid development of altcoin investment: At the beginning of the year the marketcap for altcoins as just $2 billion. By the end of 2017 it grew to over $370 billion. This was the year that investing in cryptos became about more than just Bitcoin. We saw an explosion of new promising altcoins, Binance launched in July, LTC was added to Coinbase and Ethereum really came into its own as a dominant force. I suspect that this focus on altcoins will continue as its now easier than ever to research and obtain them.
  • Resilience in the face of regulation: China banned initial coin offerings and bitcoin exchanges in the first weeks of September. The ban caused a precipitous drop in cryptocurrency flows worldwide and invoked panic within me, with Bitcoin going down to almost $3K. However we recovered surprisingly quick. This is why I wasn't too concerned with the recent news that Korea may crack down on exchanges. Cryptocurrencies are decentralized and distributed, and while government actions certainly can hurt the price in the short term, I think any attempts at increased crackdowns will result in a recovery within a few months. Crypto seems to be a lot more resilient than most people realize to laws trying to destroy it, so don't freak out when you hear a story about increased regulation in the Far East.
  • Institutional money coming in: We saw the speculation of an ETF not come to fruition, but in December the CME Group and CBOE started trading futures on Bitcoin. The lead up to this event and the subsequent decline and relative stabilization of Bitcoin will lead to a cascade of effects. We now have a genuine price discovery mechanism that will put downward pressure on BTC with its futures contracts. McAfees predictions of a million dollar BTC are not going to come to fruition now that you can short it.
  • Chase for the "next bitcoin": Lambo psychosis dominated and continued into the new year with nearly every coin in the top 100 showing a steep parabolic rise. This is actually something a lot of long term investors find deeply troubling, because now people are hungry for crazy x10 gains within a month and that is simply unsustainable.

Some predictions for the year 2018

Decline for Bitcoin
I have a long-standing emotional connection to Bitcoin and really do want it to succeed. But by now even the early adopters have come to accept how far away we are from the original vision of the currency. We are now seeing a decrease in adoption among ecommerce sites, which a sad state of affairs. I'm not so confident that Lighning will be enough at this point. Lightning likely wont be here for at least another 1-2 years and the problem will be user adoption. Segwit gave users a 40% discount on fees, and was a relatively simple upgrade, yet its 2018 and only 8% of transactions come from Segwit addresses. LN is way more difficult to implement, so don't expect it to be useful for at least a year after release. Core developers should have followed through with the New York Agreement and increased the blocksize to 2 MB. It's actually much more practical to scale BTC through miners than users, as most miners abide by the rules of a small set of mining pools and use the same software. Segwit2X was doomed to failure but it had 90% support among miners before the campaign against it started, and even after it had over 70% miner support. I think 70% miner support before a fork is vastly better for initiating a change than 8% user support.
Core team really needs to wake up right away and realize that the continual declines in market dominance are a reflection of Bitcoins failure to find utility, and that the first movers advantage and name brand will not last forever. Unless it solves the problem of insane transaction fees, ballooned mempool size, long transaction times and most of the accounts not even being able to afford to move the balance out I don't see BTC doing anything but declining in market dominance.
Ethereum will become an even more dominant force
I can see the long awaited flipening come in 2018. Ethereum already processes way more transactions than anything else, it already is basically THE platform for new coins and powers so much of the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem. The Constantinople fork and Casper Proof-of-Stake changes should take care of the TPS limitations for the next few years, and I expect to see an explosion of dApps in 2018. Ethereum has tons of developer support behind it and POS means people will want to hold it for the long term. Its already become my #1 core/safe-haven position and I think a 3-5K range in 2018 is completely reasonable.
The emergence of transactable business-oriented blockchains
The last few years were about theory and technological innovation, but I think 2018 will be the year that cryptocurrencies finally start to demonstrate value in solving business problems.
Ultimately a cryptocurrency is pointless if it doesn't solve some transactional problem or alleviate some inefficiency in the value-exchange process. There are several sectors/cases for business users that are ripe for blockchain technology: supply chain, settlement layers between intercurrency transactions, payment processing, offloading processing tasks onto blockchains, identity management...etc.
I expect that transactable coins that actually have functionality will be the big winners. ICX, WTC, VEN, NEO, XLM and others that target enterprise-oriented use cases will likely be the focus over the next year.
The rise of a DAG coin as a standard for transfers between exchanges, most likely Raiblocks (XRB)
Lets be perfectly honest: Right now the vast majority of transactions being conducted on the blockchain is simply moving cryptos around various exchanges. Its quite a nerve-wracking process, watching thousands of dollars sitting unconfirmed on the blockchain explorer for hours is not a pleasant experience. If you move your balances a lot you will end up losing substantial money to transfer fees. This is why I can see a light fast DAG becoming a standard for inter-exchange transfers of funds, specifically XRB after it gets listed on Binance. Being a DAG the process of onboarding isn't as simple as just adding another ERC20 coin, but once the Raiblocks team figures this out on Binance I suspect that adoption will follow quickly to other exchanges. The quick transactions speed and no cost will make it the ideal coin to exploit arbitrage between less liquid and more liquid markets.
The rise of "dividend" coins"
The next year should be one where the stretched valuations are questioned, and those coins that pay out a form of dividend and can thus be easily valued will become a safe harbor. NEO, EOS, ARK, VEN,OMG among others should gain favor. We actually saw NEO do particularly well in this recent downturn. I expect to see a lot more also following this dividend payment model.

Hey guys my thoughts on BTC/BCH please read!

I've been in the crypto space since March and wow is this market wild!! Anyways... I would like to express my thoughts on what I have experienced thus far. ( I apologize in advance I am not a techy person) Bitcoin unfortunately is slow and the fees are insane which makes no sense as the tech is advertised much diffrently. Be that as it may I figured hey this is normal right? I did alot of trading with btc pairs and what not through bittrex got my brother into trading as well and have had alot of profitable fun. The fees when moving bitcoin around so much is unbearable and using coinbase as my point of entry doesn't help just for me personally was the most convenient way to bridge my fiat to the "decentralized world." Started getting into ethereum which by the way is amazing so much faster etherscan is great but that's a whole other story. With the recent rise of bitcoincash I have discovered how toxic the crypto community is in general people picking sides C allimg eachother names banning people from speaking ( bitcoin) which is why I posted here pretty much the only place one can have a real discussion it seems like. I'm getting off topic. I started looking into bitcoincash and have found the tech when comparing BTC and BCH that BCH is so much better on many diffrent levels as of now.
A) transaction times are so much faster
B) pretty much no fees I mean take a look at this chart Average fees people are paying for the last 3 hours per block Bch- $69.38 Btc- 27,303.59 (holy shit) Https://fork.lol/reward/fees
C) community is alot friendly and knowledgeable, actually allow discussions here. People say bitcoin is decentralized yet you can't have any debates or conversations without getting kicked out that's called censorship guys.
D) bitcoincash is much more true to satoshis whitepaper than bitcoin core.
Another thing the unconfirmed transactions for bitcoin just keep piling up. Currently at 82k which is better than what it was but still. https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions
Why does bitcoin core not just utilize bigger blocks? I know it is a temporary fix but still it is working at this stage in the game as bitcoincash has shown. I've read arguments that bigger blocks would require house users to not be able to run there own node and bigger miner corps and what not would have to validate transactions. Which is kind of what's happening now anyways even with 1mb with bitcoin right? Then I have read that without segwit bch can't scale when layer 2 gets added lightening network blah blah but when is lightening network coming? My guess is it will be awhile based on the speed that core operates. Bitcoincash has gotten further in 3 months than bitcoin has in years. I am going off my exp though so maybe not credible. Bitcoincash is scaling now bitcoin is just rising in price because it's well bitcoin the pioneer and where alot of money will flow just for that reason only.
Sorry for the rant and I could definitely keep going butto wrap this up I have came to the conclusion after doing much due diligence, I am going to invest in bitcoincash!

History Lesson for new VIA Viacoin Investors

Viacoin is an open source cryptocurrency project, based on the Bitcoin blockchain. This will mean easy adoption by merchants and vendors, which won’t have to worry anymore with long times between the payment and its approval. Todd role as Chief Scientist and Advisor has been proven the right choice for this coin, thanks to his focus on Tree Chains, a ground breaking feature that will fix the main problems revolving around Bitcoin, such as scalability issues and the troubles for the Viacoin miners to keep a reputation on the blockchain in a decentralized mining environment. Thanks to Todd’s expertise in sidechains, the future of this crypto currency will see the implementation of an alternative blockchain that is not linear. According to the developer, the chains are too unregulated when it comes to trying to establish a strong connection between the operations happening on one chain and what happens elsewhere. Merged mining, scalability and safety are at risk and tackling these problems is mandatory in order to create a new, disruptive crypto technology. Together with implementation of SegWit, Romano has recently been working on finalizing the implementation of merged mining, something that has never been done with altcoins. Merged mining allows users to mine more than one block chain at the same time, this means that every hash the miner does contributes to the total hash rate of all currencies, and as a result they are all more secure. This release pre-announcement resulted in a market spike, showing how interested the market is in the inclusion of these features in the coin core and blockchain. The developer has been introducing several of these features, ranging from a Hierarchical Deterministic key (HD key) generation that allows all Viacoin users to backup their wallets, to a compact block relay, which decreases block propagation times on the peer to peer network; this creates a healthier network and a better baseline relay security margin. Viacoin’s support for relative locktime allows users and miners to time-lock a transaction, this means that a new transaction will be prevented until a relative time change is achieved with a new OP code, OP_CHECKSEQUENCEVERITY, which allows the execution of a script based on the age of the amount that is being spent. Support for Child-Pays-For-Parent procedures in Viacoin has been successfully enabled, CPFP will alleviate the problem of transactions that stuck for a long period in the unconfirmed limbo, either because of network bottlenecks or lack of funds to pay the fee. Thanks to this method, an algorithm will selects transactions based on federate inclusive unconfirmed ancestor transaction; this means that a low fee transaction will be more likely to get picked up by miners if another transaction with an higher fee that speeds its output gets relayed. Several optimizations have been implemented in the blockchain to allow its scaling to proceed freely, ranging from pruning of the chain itsel to save disk space, to optimizing memory use thanks to mempool transaction filtering. UTXO cache has also been optimization, further allowing for significant faster transaction times. Anonymity of transaction has been ameliorated, thanks to increased TOR support by the development team. This feature will help keep this crypto currency secure and the identity of who works on it safe; this has been proven essential, especially considering how Viacoin’s future is right now focused on segwit and lightning network . Onion technology used in TOR has also been included in the routing of transactions, rapid payments and instant transaction on bi directional payment channels in total anonymity. Payments Viacoin’s anonymity is one of the main items of this year’s roadmap, and by the end of 2017 we’ll be able to see Viacoin’s latest secure payment technology, called Styx, implemented on its blockchain. This unlinkable anonymous atomic payment hub combines off-the-blockchain cryptographic computations, thanks to Viacoin’s scriptin functionalities, and makes use of security RSA assumptions, ROM and Elliptic Curve digital signature Algorithm; this will allow participants to make fast, anonymous transfer funds with zero knowledge contingent payment proof. Wallets already offer strong privacy, thanks to transactions being broadcasted once only; this increases anonymity, since it can’t be used to link IPs and TXs. In the future of this coin we’ll also see hardware wallets support reaching 100%, with Trezor and Nano ledger support. These small, key-chain devices connect to the user’s computer to store their private keys and sign transactions in a safe environment. Including Viacoin in these wallets is a smart move, because they are targeted towards people that are outside of hardcore cryptocurrency users circle and guarantees exposure to this currency. The more casual users hear of this coin, the faster they’re going to adopt it, being sure of it’s safety and reliability. In last October, Viacoin price has seen a strong decline, probably linked to one big online retailer building a decentralized crypto stock exchange based on the Counterparty protocol. As usual with crypto currencties, it’s easy to misunderstand the market fluctuations and assume that a temporary underperforming coin is a sign of lack of strength. The change in the development team certainly helped with Viacoin losing value, but by watching the coin graphs it’s easy to see how this momentary change in price is turning out to be just one of those gentle chart dips that precede a sky rocketing surge in price.
